Honor Homer And Heartache The Point Of The Iliad

Honor Homer and Heartache The point of The Iliad is personal honor. Honor was prevalent throughout the poem. The honor of every person in Homeric culture was important. Homer demonstrated some lack of honor in some of the main characters. Therefore, Homer wants to infuse pride, emotions, and values into the main characters who are viewed as heroes that the society looks up to. With these three solutions it would help out the honor culture. As illustrated in book VI, Homer didn’t want readers to just believe that Hector was this mighty warrior in the Trojan War. He was portrayed as impulsive and insufficiently prudent but not overbearing and arrogant as Agamemnon. Hector had this compassion towards his family. He has sincere love for his wife and kids. Glorious Hector, quickly lifting the helmet from his head, set it down on the ground, fiery in the sunlight, and raising his son he kissed him, tossed him in his arms, lifting a prayer to Zeus and the other deathless gods: â€Å"Zeus, all you immortals! Grant this boy, my son, may be like me, first in glory among the Trojans, strong and brave like me, and rule all Troy in power and one day let them say, â€Å"He is a better man than his father!’ when he comes home from battle bearing the bloody gear of the mortal enemy he has killed in war a joy to his mother’s heart.† (Homer, pg.211) This example from the poem shows that Hector has pride and love for his son. He wants his son to be a stronger and better warrior than he is. Although, all

Essay on Physics of Soccer - 1792 Words

Physics of Soccer I. Introduction Soccer is a sport that’s very challenging and during the course of this semester I’ve found physics can also be described as challenging. As far as I was concerned soccer and physics were both challenging and that was all they had in common, consequently upon researching them both this semester I found that I was wrong. For me this was nothing new because I’ve found that physics isn’t a subject that can be skimmed, but rather it has to be studied to the finest detail. Those small details if missed can make all your efforts worthless. Or on the positive side understanding those details can make your efforts worth it in the end. And in soccer if you understand the physics, which to most players†¦show more content†¦Defensively in soccer speed is sometimes slowed down and skilled footwork may be needed. How a player uses speed or velocity depends on the situation, but if just one isn’t done skillfully a player may not end up making the pl ay as planned. III. Distance The distance that you are able to kick the ball can be summed up with the equation for distance, d=RT, distance equals rate multiplied by the time. So speed and time are both very important when kicking the ball because it directly affects the distance. Soccer players vary the distances that they want to kick the ball. Skilled players can estimate very quickly how fast to make the ball move to make it go where they need it to. Before learning this equation in physics I just thought you kicked the ball, but now I know that when this equation is applied to soccer it means so much more. Soccer players can use this to help them judge how hard and fast they need to be able to kick the ball to make it go a certain distance. This is just another example of how physics, the small details, can be used to improve ones soccer skills. IV. Momentum Momentum can be defined as the product of the inertial mass and the velocity, p=mv (Kirkpatrick, 106). When relating this equation to soccer it can be directly interchanged with the mass of the player and their speed/direction. So a player must be not only quick, but have the mass to gain the momentum needed. Lemonheads free essay sample

In July, the Lemonheads played a rare all-ages show at the Paradise in Boston. I traveled to the show with a few friends, because my first taste of the Lemonheads the week before at Tower Records had been surprisingly sweet. They played a short set at Tower and after the show, I even had a brief chat with Mr. Dando and got his scribble on my C.D. case. So, having thoroughly enjoyed my first taste, I went back for the whole thing. The Lemonheads ever-changing line-up has settled on Evan Dando on guitars and lead vocals, David Ryan, on drums, and Juliana Hatfield (formerly of the Blake Babies) on bass. Hatfield opened the show with songs from her solo album, Hey Babe. She was a strong beginning. Her sugar-like voice echoed loudly off the walls of the tiny club. She is a multi-talented and brilliant musician and her set was amazing. We will write a custom essay sample on Lemonheads or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page After Hatfield left a pleading crowd, Dando, Ryan, and Nick Dalton (a replacement bassist since Juliana couldnt possibly play two sets) started off with a new song from their current album, Its a Shame About Ray. They then played a variety of songs from their four other albums. They even played their cover of Frank Mills from the musical, Hair. Dando is a great musician and basically a nice guy, which shows in his music. He played a childrens song he was working on called Being With Me. During the concert, Dando was very in touch with the audience and often made jokes. It was good to see them in such a small club because it gives you an opportunity to see the band close-up. I even sat on the side of the stage. They were actually normal-sized, not doll-sized. The show was very powerful and energetic. The band sounded really strong and together. It was very evident that they were actually a talented band and not a studio creation. The Lemonheads played a wide variety of new and old songs as well as those never heard before and still managed to pull off an entertaining and solid performance. n

HR Shared Services Industry-Free-Samples-Myassignmnthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the HR Shared Services Is Hot and Getting Hotter. Answer: HR Shared Services Is Hot and Getting Hotter. According to me, the scope of HR shared services Industry is increasing to deliver more efficient services to the companies. In the changing scenario, even the mid-size companies have been advised to adopt the approach of HR shared services. The shared services model has become a main stream in providing HR services such as recruitment, selection, training and development, professional practice, performance management, compensation benefits, employment law and industrial relations (Institute for Employment Studies, 2018). According to me, the role of HR in the HR shared services is to provide consultancy on issues such as payrolls, relocation of services, recruitments, benefits , reimbursement of transport expenses , pension benefits administration etc. The HR consultant provides high level professional support to the companies in this this regard. I believe that the activities are performed by the HR consultant in a stable and precise manner. He advices the purchase department of the company to combine the procurement of the resources which offers savings through economies of scale (Hume, 2014). My analysis is that the role of HR consultant is to utilize the best methods to accomplish the task. He must deliver the project on time and in the cost effective manner. He must supply the right information at the right time to the customers, both in process and content. He should deliver the best quality solutions which fulfills the customer needs. His role is to strengthen the HR so that it becomes more strategic and to decrease its involvement in administration processes (Scully Levin, 2010) In my opinion, HR consultants suggest the newly established company to formulate the policies and procedures and they make sure that the employees of the company comply with the applicable rules and regulations. They also conduct HR audits in this regard to ensure compliance. In larger companies, they also provide consultations on grievance programs. They help the human resource to cope with the changes adopted by the company. So, to conclude, it can be said that the HR consultant comprehends the issues and ineffectiveness of the human resources and suggest the ways to rectify them. According to me, the role of HR is crucial in a company whether big or small because they play a very important role in the success of the organization (Muchira Kiambati, 2015).
